What: A time where students can give God the glory through their talents by honoring and adoring Him. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate in an act, singing, playing an instrument or whatever. Judges will award at the end of the night the GOLDEN POTTY to one group/person that they feel was most unique.

Theme: RUSH WEEK in the Bayou

Verse: Mark 12:30-21, “AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Details:

A summer camp experience with the mix of missions throughout the day in the city of New Orleans. We will be staying a local church for lodging. FBCO will be doing camp alongside of Balwin Baptist Church, Journey-Tower Grove, Willot Road Community Church and First Baptist Church-Lake St. Louis. Specific mission projects and recreation team colors will be released the week before we leave so students have time to pack accordingly.

Note: Due to space limitation we have 45 spots for middle school students, 60 for high school students and 15 adult spots. A non-refundable deposit of $50 holds your students spot for camp. Also, each student will need to have a medical release form on file in order to participate in Summer Camp.

When: July 7 – 13

Where: Matamoros, Mexico

What: This is a mission trip designed for students to do eye glass ministry by reaching local communities with a practical need.  Through this ministry we can reach hundreds of Mexican people and be able to share the love of Jesus with them and provide assistance to them all while connecting them to a local church.

Mandatory culture training is required to attend this trip.  Details coming soon.

Who: High School students and adults.

Cost: $400 + traveling meals on the way there and back

Why: The Bible has the effect of making our gaze on Jesus steadier and clearer. “The Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.”-1 Samuel 3:21 Also, it is a tool to daily triumph over sin. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word…I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:9-11 Other reasons include comfort and counsel for people you love and communicating the Gospel to Unbelievers.

Where: Family Arena in St. Louis, MO

What: The 2012 tour will help students face the reality and urgency of the competition they are a part of everyday in the grand Kingdom conflict for the souls of their friends. Diving into 2 Timothy 4:1-8, they’ll come away motivated and equipped to carry out the Apostle Paul’s charge to GO, FIGHT, WIN. Limited space is available so get your deposit in soon to hold your spot.

Who: Students 6th-12th Grade

FRIEND REACH?: There is a challenge for you to bring 1 non-churched, lost friend with you to Dare2Share with the purpose of you telling them about Jesus. All we need is a commitment from them to attend by February 1st, their name and Dare2Share will cover their cost, crazy right, well not really-they are daring you to share your faith with your friends.

What:

IGNITE is an opportunity for students to use their talents and abilities through film, drama and tech ministry. If you are interested in joining this ministry please read through the IGNITE packet and turn it into Student Ministry staff. *If you have not turned in a packet and are still interested in joining this then come Wednesday at 5:30pm in the Youth Loft and we will direct you where you need to be.

Film Ministry

The purpose of the Student Film Ministry is to make funny and serious promotional, sermon starter and event videos.  Not only will you film, but will learn how to edit video using various techniques and learning different programs. The ministry welcomes any interested person in 6-12 grade, regardless of his or her level of experience with a video camera.

Drama Ministry

The purpose of the Student Drama Ministry is to portray Christian themes and Bible stories on stage in a spiritual, realistic, and professional manner. Productions may range from humorous skits and sermon stingers to dinner theatre or assisting church-wide full length plays and musicals. The ministry welcomes any interested person in 6-12 grade, regardless of his or her level of experience, from the novice to the season thespian, whether onstage or behind the scenes.

Tech Ministry

The purpose of the Student Tech Ministry is to assist in taking an active role in helping with sound, video and lighting regularly for Wednesday night worship services, events and other special needs.  The ministry welcomes any interested person in 6-12 grade, regardless of his or her level of experience with a video camera.

MSU Purpose:

Students will grow deeper in their personal walk with Christ as they learn and live out what it means to serve others and minister, living their life on God’s mission. They will support the ongoing ministry to youth at First Baptist Church by building relationships with youth, modeling a Christ like lifestyle and attitude for our youth, assisting and leading ministry events that reinforce FBCO youth priorities, and becoming activity involved in the life of First Baptist Church. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also- 2 Timothy 2:2

What Is This?

Middle School and High School students will meet at separate homes with a  family group (man and woman leader), for a time of accountability, prayer and the study of God’s Word. Groups will be co-ed and each home will have time in the beginning for snacks and fellowship. Middle School students will be going through a study called SWITCH and is about understanding what it means to live a Christian Life and make the switch to follow God’s Way and not the World’s Way. High School students will be going through FORGOTTEN GOD and is about reversing our neglect of the HOLY SPIRIT. We talk about God the Father and Jesus Christ, but what about the 3rd part of the Trinity, the Spirit?

Who: Middle School students (6th-8th grade) and High School students (9th-12th grade)

Time: Thursday’s from 6:30pm-8:00pm beginning February 2nd
